AS EAST BAY LUTHERAN YOUTH, WE ARE:
° BOLDLY PROCLAIMING JESUS AND GOD’S GRACE.
° GROWING SERVANT HEARTS FOR JUSTICE.
° BUILDING COMMUNITY, RESILIENCE, AND IDENTITY THROUGH PRAYER.
° DEEPENING FAITH WHILE RESPECTING DOUBTS.
° OPENING OUR EYES TO SEE GOD IN ALL THAT WE DO.
The East Bay Lutheran Youth Program is an active and growing youth program and energetic part of church life among the East Bay Lutheran Parish congregations. Our Pastor of Youth Ministries, the Rev. Craig Minich, coordinates and gives direction to the four youth groups:
* A Family Ministry Group for families with children from preschool to second grade
* The “W.E.B.S.” elementary youth group for kids grades 2-5. W.E.B.S. stands for Welcome, Experience, Belong, and Share.
* A middle school group called M.Y.L.K. (Middle Youth Lutheran Kids)
* A senior high group, called S.N.L. (Sunday Night Live)
Youth from five congregations (and their friends) presently participate in the EBLYP: Resurrection Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, and United Lutheran Church in Oakland, CA; and Trinity Lutheran Church in Alameda, CA.
Activities include: trips to regional and national youth events (and the accompanying fundraising); community service projects; social events like ice-skating and indoor rock climbing; family campouts, picnics, and snow trips; and enhancing the worship life of the church. About 15-20% of our members at each of our churches are children, and we take development of their faith seriously.
Pastor Craig Minich (PC) lives in the West Bay with his partner Bruce. Craig is originally from Tampa, FL and received a B.A. degree in Literature & Philosophy at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC, an M.A. degree in Ethics from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA, and an M.Div. degree from the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Berkeley, CA.
